Reading is great, but what are you reading about? Sure everyone wants their kid to know their ABCs, but what about the other things? Confidence, how to deal with emotions or just healthy habits! EMPOWERMENT! As a mom (especially to a girl) I feel like these are important things to teach my daughter early on before the rest of the wold can influence her with their negativity. So Kali and I took a trip to out local Barnes And Noble and spent a few hours reading different books to put together this list!
P.s They have Kids Club you get special discounts, points and rewards!
The First we book stumbles upon is called Good Morning Yoga It’s a step-by-step book that teaching early morning yoga poses to help wake you up and start your day off on the right foot! Now, this was such an amazing find for us because we already do yoga together a couples times a week and when we do, I know it impacts her mood in a positive way. So why not try this in the morning right?! We also found that they have a night time book called Good Night Yoga, if your little ones needs a little help winding down at night! (I will attach all links to the books below.)
Second book is called In My heart. This book is amazing because I honestly can’t always find the right words to translate to my 4 year old what i’m trying to explain when it comes to complicated things that I can only say in the language of a 27 year old… This book found all the right words in a way any child would understand! It teaches you and your little one all the emotions, from big to small, happy to angry and how to handle the emotional development of your little one! This is a book that will sit on our bookshelf for ages and will most likely gift this season to my mom friends with little ones.
The next two books go hand it hand with WOMAN empowerment. Raising a girl is so many different things and i’m sure raising a boy probably is too, but for us girl moms; it’s like a whole different responsibility on us to instill confidence and strength into our girls, in a world where people like Trump exist. These next two books teach just that!
Dream Big, Little One is such an inspiring book for little girls of all nationalities and color. It really empowers you to see great woman in history do amazing things and a book made with illustrations that help you little understand for themselves!
Michelle Obama made it on the list, not because it’s about Michelle Obama but because it’s some of the famous quotes Michelle Obama said and in other words your “I Am’s” every morning every night Kali and Recite her “I Am’s”. If you don’t know what that is, its a list of things I make Kali say that are encouraging, empowering and loving. This Michelle Obama book has things inside that she once said i.e “Be Courageous”. Every page in this book encourages your little one to be HER!
